A proportion can be set up many ways as long as the corresponding
relationships are kept in order.

For example, if a car travels at a constant rate of 160 miles every 3 hours, how
long will it take it to travel 200 miles?

One way to set up this equation is miles_{1}/hours_{1} = miles_{2}/hours_{2}

160/3 = 200/x

Using cross multiplication we obtain 160x = 600 and therefore x=3.75 hours

But we could also set up the equation as miles_{1}/miles_{2} = hours_{1}/hours_{2
}160/200 = 3/x

Using cross multiplication we obtain 160x = 600 and therefore x=3.75 hours (same
answer, different starting point).
